What is Tso Moriri lake?

Tso Moriri is a pristine high-altitude lake at 14,000 ft near the village of Korzok in the Changthang region. It is 28 km long and 8 km wide, surrounded by barren mountains. Recently opened to foreigners, it is a breeding ground for bar-headed geese, crested grebes, Brahmini ducks and brown-headed gulls. It is far less crowded than Pangong Lake.

How does this differ from Soul of Ladakh?

Land of High Passes visits Tso Moriri lake instead of Hanle. After Pangong, you drive south to Tso Moriri (a pristine wildlife lake) and return via Tso Kar salt lake and Tanglang La Pass. What are the Changpa nomads?

The Changpa are nomadic herders who roam the Changthang plateau with flocks of pashmina goats, sheep, and yaks. They move from pasture to pasture with the seasons, living in traditional tents. Their pashmina goats produce the finest cashmere wool in the world. You may encounter them near Tso Kar on Day 7.

How long is the return drive to Leh?

The return drive from Tso Moriri via Tso Kar and Tanglang La Pass to Leh covers approximately 240 km and takes about 8 hours. It is a long but extraordinarily scenic drive through some of the highest inhabited regions on Earth.
